  • Jamal ATIF
    Professor at Paris Dauphine
    Jamal ATIF is a distinguished professor of computer science at Université Paris Dauphine - PSL, where he also serves as Vice-President. He is the Associate Director of the Parisian AI Institute PRAIRIE - Paris School of AI, and Scientific Director of the nation-wide AI program (PEPR IA). From 2016 to 2023, he was the Scientific Advisor on AI at the CNRS. His current research centers on the foundations of trustworthy machine learning, including robustness against adversarial attacks, fairness, privacy-preserving models, and more recently, performative prediction. He has supervised over 15 PhD students and has published more than 120 papers in top-tier AI/ML venues, including NeurIPS, ICML, AISTATS and Artificial Intelligence Journal. Along with his students and collaborators, he has received several awards for his research, most recently the Best Paper Award at AAAI 2022 for his work on fairness in machine learning. Earlier in his career, he also received two awards from the Radiological Society of North America for his contributions to medical imaging in the mid-2000s

    Albert Cañigueral is a Spanish multimedia engineer, consultant and lecturer specialising in the impact of technology on society. In 2011 he founded the ConsumoColaborativo website, which has become a Spanish-language reference on the collaborative economy, and was the connector for Spain and Latin America for the OuiShare network. Author of the book ‘El trabajo ya no es lo que era’, he explores new forms of work and emerging economic models.
    Albert Cañigueral currently works at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) as Strategy Manager for Artificial Intelligence and Society, where he analyses the interactions between AI and social dynamics.

    Jordan spent the last three years as an assistant to a Member of the European Parliament, campaigning for Open Source Software in negotiations on laws such as the AI Act, where he pioneered the Open Source AI exemption. Jordan is a long-time user of Open Source software and a strong advocate for the Public Money–Public Code principle. He now works for the Open Source Initiative as their EU Policy Analyst.

    Stéphane Requena is Technical and Innovation Director at GENCI, the public agency that provides academic and industrial researchers with conventional and quantum supercomputers and support services for their needs in digital simulation, data processing, artificial intelligence and quantum computing.
    He is also Chair of INFRAG, one of the 2 expert committees of EuroHPC, the pan-European entity responsible for financing and providing access to large-scale computing resources and funding R&D and associated services.
    Before joining GENCI, Stéphane worked for several years at IDRIS and within the CS Group before joining IFPEN for 10 years as an HPC developer in the oil & gas sector and then in HPC architecture.

    Quentin Adam is a French entrepreneur and founder and CEO of Clever Cloud, a platform as a service (PaaS) launched in 2010, which facilitates the deployment and management of web applications.
    Although he didn't finish his engineering studies, he became a lecturer at the University of Nantes and is a regular speaker at international events such as Paris Web and Confoo.
    In addition to his role at Clever Cloud, Quentin is co-founder and secretary of the regional cluster of video game companies, Atlangames, and previously set up an online video game company.

    PhD Candidate - Research Scientist (NLP)

    Manuel Faysse is a second-year doctoral student at CentraleSupélec (Université Paris-Saclay), specialising in automatic natural language processing (NLP) and the confidentiality of machine learning models.
    He holds a master's degree in robotics and data science from the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), and has also worked as a research scientist at Illuin Technology, focusing on deep multimodal models for document processing and neural information retrieval. His work has been published in leading international conferences such as ICML and EMNLP, and he has been invited to present his research at renowned institutions such as Meta and IBM.

    Machine Learning Engineer within the AI Factory of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa, a group committed to the open source approach with the release of the Bloomz LLM series at the end of 2023, also a major contributor to the conversational platform TOCK (The Open Conversational Kit) and a contributor to the open source community of the Bloomz Inference Server project.
    Within the Group, he is currently involved in the AI for IT initiative, the aim of which is to provide developers with generative AI tools for better development, while favouring open-source solutions.

    An alumna of ENS Ulm and holder of a doctorate in philosophy, Anastasia Stasenko is co-founder of the French start-up pleias, which has developed the first LLMs to be trained solely on the CommonCorpus, a permissively licensed data corpus also built by pleias. Other recent projects include the development of Albert, the first sovereign AI system to assist French civil servants in responding to citizens' requests, in collaboration with Étalab. In addition to her role at pleias, she is an associate lecturer at the Sorbonne-Nouvelle, where she co-directs the master's programme in digital communication and data analysis.

    Jonathan Sprauel is an expert in artificial intelligence, a graduate of École Polytechnique (X08), an engineer from Supaéro, and holds a PhD in artificial intelligence.
    With over 10 years of experience in innovation and the data office at Thales Alenia Space, he has gained deep expertise in designing and implementing innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence, particularly in the context of satellite constellations, and has also developed partnerships and collaborations with companies and institutions to create AI solutions.
    Since 2024, Jonathan Sprauel leads the France-Quebec research program FOR—led by ANITI, CRIAQ, IRT Saint Exupéry, and IVADO—where he applies his skills to advance research in generative artificial intelligence. He also teaches machine learning courses for third-year and master's students at ISAE Supaéro.

    Open Source Program Office. He is an active speaker at scientific
    conferences and regularly teaches at seminars and scientific schools.
    His current research focuses on high-throughput scientific computing,
    machine learning / artificial intelligence. Axel continues to drive
    advancements at the intersection of these fields with open source.

    Max Kendrick is a diplomat, technologist, and social innovator with nearly two decades of diverse experience across human security, operations, and technology. He currently serves as AI Strategy Coordinator & Senior Advisor to the Director-General at UNESCO. A serial entrepreneur, Kendrick is the co-founder of two startups focused on the responsible use of technology to solve socioeconomic problems. Previously, he spent a decade in the U.S. Foreign Service, working across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and as a negotiator on the United Nations Security Council in New York. Kendrick holds degrees from the University of St Andrews, Cambridge University, and Stanford University's Graduate School of Business. He drives innovation by deploying Open Source Program Offices (OSPOs) and advancing open source AI for low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). He also coordinates the UN Common Policy Framework on Open Source to harmonize global practices.
    A researcher-entrepreneur, Dr. Manset has founded four companies and two industrial groups, earning 17 international awards, including the Gold Medal at the Geneva Invention Expo and European ICT Prizes. His notable work includes designing platforms in healthcare and data privacy, such as MyHealthMyData.eu.
    He has held prestigious roles, including advisor to the European Commission and UN agencies, Commanding Officer of the Strategic Military Reserve at the French Ministry of Defense, and liaison agent for blockchain standardization. Dr. Manset holds an HDR, a Doctorate, and an Executive MBA, and has authored 80+ publications, including a study in Nature. Knighted in 2019 for his contributions to education and innovation, he remains dedicated to transformative initiatives at the nexus of technology and global development.

In Brussels he obtained a law degree from UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles and has also worked on EU policy for the automotive sector, GDPR, and corporate finance.

    My first essay, "Dé-coder : une contre-histoire du numérique" (Éditions Bouquins, Sept. 2022) was awarded the Influencia Book Prize of 2023. It deconstructs common misconceptions about technology and provides key analytical tools to clarify the political stakes of digital transformation.
    I believe in bringing the expertise out of academia, and conversely, in bringing real-world experience into theory.

    He was a post-doc at the computer science laboratory at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM) and the law laboratory at the University of Ottawa, developing expertise in responsible artificial intelligence.
    His work focuses on evaluating and improving the ethical alignment of machine learning models, especially regarding LLMs.
  • Nicholas ASHER

    Nicholas Asher is an American researcher born in New York, specialising in philosophy and linguistics. He studied these disciplines at Yale University and Oxford University. After being professor of philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin from 1992 to 2006, he joined the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in France as director of research at the Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse (IRIT).
    His work focuses on semantics, pragmatics, discourse and dialogue, as well as the automatic processing of natural language. He is the author of several influential books, including ‘Logics of Conversation’ co-authored with Alex Lascarides, and ‘Lexical Meaning in Context: A Web of Words’.
    In 2011, he was a fellow at the Lichtenberg-Kolleg of the University of Göttingen.

    I am a machine learning expert & entrepreneur seeking to spread the use of machine learning by simplifying its usage.
    After a Ph.D. & postdoc in statistical physics, I joined Wolfram Research where I became the head of the machine learning group for 7 years. There, I led the development of automatic learning tools for the Wolfram Language, a user-friendly deep learning framework, and various machine learning applications. After this experience I decided to write a book to share my understanding of machine learning (https://www.wolfram-media.com/products/introduction-to-machine-learning.html).
    I recently disengaged from Wolfram to start a company called NuMind (https://www.numind.ai) which is a software company developing high-level machine learning tools and applications. With this company, my goal is to make machine learning tools that are even more accessible than the ones we developed at Wolfram Research, yet without compromise on how well they perform.

  • Gaël BLONDELLE
    Open Source Executive - Eclipse Foundation - Open Source Initiative
    Gaël Blondelle is a passionate open source advocate with over 20 years' experience in the software industry. He joined the Eclipse Foundation in 2013, where he currently holds the position of Chief Membership Officer, facilitating collaboration within the open source community. In 2024, he was appointed as a board member of the Open Source Initiative (OSI).
    Prior to joining the Eclipse Foundation, Gaël co-founded an open source startup, where he served as CTO, and led open source business development for a systems integration company. He also led a strategic research project aimed at creating an open source ecosystem with major industrial players.
    Within the Eclipse Foundation, his mission is to help organisations adopt open source, promoting innovation through openness and collaboration. In particular, he played a key role in moving the Eclipse Foundation to Europe in 2020 and in creating the OSPO Alliance, an initiative to help businesses understand and adopt open source.

He began his career as an R&D engineer at Bull (now Atos), then worked at INRIA, contributing to various open source projects.
